Commissions

Bespoke commissions created through a passion and love for creating meaningful portraits of pets and animals

In 2018 Megan begun taking commissions after she realised her love of creating drawings of pets as presents for family and friends could become something she could give other people the opportunity to do. After a few requests Megan used that passion to create bespoke art for others who enjoy her work.

The majority of Megan’s requests are for animal portraits, many of which are for pet bereavements, so she knows how important the accuracy of her paintings are. Pet portraits are Megan’s favourite to do, as she enjoys creating a meaningful gift that her clients will cherish forever. She enjoy the challenge of every new commission and is always so grateful when she is told how well she has captured the animals character and likeness.

Roxy, Opie and Tilly.

Pet portraits are perfect for gifting, like this one that was lovingly gifted at Christmas.

This commission was originally painted for a fathers day gift last year, featuring the two larger dogs Roxy and Opie. After being so well received and with the family’s addition of another puppy Tilly, she was requested to make an addition to the piece as a surprise for Christmas.

How to order a commission

  • Fill out the request form. If you don’t receive a response within two working days, please check your spam folder – sometimes the emails end up there.
  • Include photos. At least 3 but you can send as many as you like. High quality images are best features, textures and colourings can clearly be seen, this will allow for the best possible likeness to be created. The best images are those taken in natural lighting, no blur and close ups are helpful. If you unfortunately have limited pictures or no good quality images Megan is still happy to take a look and decide with you if a commission is possible.
  • Once together you have decided the size, picture and what your looking for your commission will be booked in the diary. A deposit of 50% will be due at this stage to secure your commission, with the remainder of the cost due on completion.
  • Payment can be made by bank transfer- Details will be provided in your invoice, other payments can also be arranged.
  • A rough sketch will be produced first that will be e-mailed to you so you can get a good idea of how the commission will look and that you are happy with this. Any changes you want are welcome at this point and once the go ahead is given the commission will be in process.
  • When the Commission is complete a photo will be e-mailed to you. Once you are 100% happy with the results the final payment will be due and postage will be arranged for you to receive your commission.

If you change your mind on the commission this will have to be agreed before the commission is in process. Cancellations can not be accepted after Megan has begun the commission. If full payment is not given Megan reserves the right to keep the commission and deposit.

Reference Photo

In the situation that the photo you choose of the subject was taken by a professional photographer, or another person, it is the clients responsibility to obtain permission for it to be used as a reference for your commission. By placing your order you are agreeing to have already checked with relevant persons and received permissions for use of the photo. This will not be relevant if you have been clear about permissions and Megan is creating a commission similar to the image and using it as a reference and falls under fair use.

If the photos provided are low quality Megan will do her best to create a commission for you but it has to be understood by the client that the commission may not be of the highest standard.

Megan retains the right to turn down any Commission requests if she doesn’t think she will be able to create what the client has requested.

The commission will be packaged safely in a bubble cushioned envelope, supported with a strong backing cardboard on both sides to keep the piece from getting bent during shipping. Larger commissions with be sent in a cardboard tube. Portraits are left unmounted and unframed to provide clients freedom to display their portrait how they desire.

It is the customers responsibility to make sure they have provided  the correct shipping address.  In the event, a commission is received damaged, please send a photo of the damage of both the outside packaging and the commission inside so a complaint can be sent to the mailing company.
